Nieuwelingen — In Transit brings together 15 emerging makers from Amsterdam's periphery, Nieuw-West, Noord, and Zuid-Oost. Living and working outside the ring, they navigate a city where space is temporary, ownership is uncertain, and mobility is not a choice but a necessity.
Their work explores what the car means to their generation: a symbol of freedom and constraint, a vehicle for personal reflection, a response to the housing crisis, and sometimes, an escape from the art world itself.
What does it mean to build a career while always being in transit? And what happens when mobility becomes both subject and method?
