	CurationNieuwelingen exhibition Van Eesteren Museum20 June - 07 July 2025Co-curated with Lina HolinskiMuseum websiteWhat comes to mind when you think of Nieuw-West? The Sloterplas? The diverse mix of cultures? Or maybe the creative talent that thrives in this part of town?


Nieuwelingen is a group exhibition presented by the Van Eesteren Museum, bringing together the work of 31 artists with ties to Amsterdam Nieuw-West. Now in its second edition, the exhibition celebrates the diversity of this neighbourhood across cultural backgrounds, generations, and artistic disciplines, reflecting what Nieuw-West is today.


My role encompassed the full arc of the curatorial process: organising and running the open call, supporting the jury selection, and shaping the overall exhibition concept and structure. I worked closely with the graphic designer and space designer to align the visual identity and spatial experience with the exhibition's content and atmosphere.


Nieuwelingen reflects the Van Eesteren Museum's ongoing commitment to nurturing and amplifying local creative talent, and it was a privilege to contribute to that mission.Works were selected by an independent jury through an open call process.
The exhibition shows various art disciplines with artworks by Aurélien Lepetit, Boyan Montero, Caroline Diepstraten, Dané Vonk, Emma Huffmann, Femke and Anastasija Pirozenko, Flip Kwakkel, Hessel de Ronde, Michiel de Jong, Jasper Kooper, Javiera Gonzálex Velásquez, Johanna de Schipper, Justin Agyin, Karin van de Wiel, Maja Vucetic, Martijn Huting, Martijn Schriek, Michele Bazzoli, Mikelis Murnieks, Müge Yilmaz, Niki Milioni, Nikola Woudstra, Nina van Hartskamp, Nora Békés, Peim van der Sloot, Peterine Arts, Rashel van der Schaaf, Remco Mooijekind, Sofie Leenen, Thom van Hoek and William Lounsbury

For Women Only is a design exhibition exploring the role of women in architecture and design, and the powerful influence of everyday objects on women’s position in society.


Using Van Eesteren Museum's collection of interior objects from the 1950s and 1960s as a starting point, the exhibition examines how design both reflected and reinforced societal expectations of women during the era of the Good Living tradition. From domestic appliances to furniture and decorative objects, these products shaped daily life, and defined what was considered a woman’s role within it.


The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on how design continues to influence gender roles today. What has changed? What patterns persist? And how can contemporary design challenge outdated assumptions?


By connecting past and present, For Women Only reveals design not only as a reflection of society, but as an active force in shaping it.

It is distributed across major cities at around 60 locations. Apron and Kinship: Crafting Rituals for the Future Ancestor
This series of aprons functions as a gentle invitation to create spaces for gathering and a vessel for sharing memories. While kinship is often defined by blood or law, Asuka proposes a "Radical Kinship" that celebrates our profound connection to our surroundings and the people within them.

By wearing these aprons and serving tea in public spaces, she performs the role of a "Future Ancestor." This practice is rooted in the belief that our small, daily acts of kindness are the threads that weave the fabric of the world. Through this ritual, Asuka invites us to recognise the invisible ties that bind us and to expand the circle of happiness together, ensuring a warmer and more connected heritage for the generations to come.

My graduation work shown in the exhibition “New Now”Let’s celebrate the relationship with our surroundings and expand the connection we have!A series of aprons that create spaces for gathering and sharing memories. Kinship is generally considered to be how individuals are related to one another, especially by blood, marriage or adoption. It’s not easy to recognise and appreciate connections with our surroundings in everyday life but it’s important to build kinship by thinking about these connections because our daily small actions can create kinship to the world. I wish for a world in which we can create these small actions and expand the circle of happiness and kindness together.

	Raw Color projectArtEZ University of the Arts3rd year assignmentSeptember - December 2020A Fusion of Textures: Exploring Symbiosis in DesignThis project began as a collaboration with a wood company, sparking an exploration of materials and their relationships. My goal was to represent the symbiosis of nature by combining contrasting elements—hard and soft, structured and plush.

I chose MDF wood for its naturally softer texture and muted tones, which I found visually appealing. To complement it, I introduced a puffy, velvet-textured element filled with cotton, adding warmth and softness to the design. The final piece reflects my personal aesthetic, with pink—my favorite color—tying it all together.

One of the biggest challenges in this process was learning to think through making. This hands-on approach deepened my understanding of how materials themselves can guide design, shaping the creative journey in unexpected ways.

How It Works:


Apply your chosen perfume to the sensor.
Wait 5 seconds as the box recognizes the scent.
The lock releases, allowing you to open it.
Rediscover memories and embrace nostalgia.

This project is an exploration of Arduino and coding, bringing together technology and emotion in an innovative way.
